A summer toy!

A few weeks ago I saw a small sailboat sitting in a front yard very close to the street and I was curious if the owner had wanted to sell it. I went by the house after work and as I pulled into the driveway the owner pulled into the driveway at the same time. When I saw him I asked if he had any interest in selling the little boat and he barked back at me "NO!" Then he looked at me and asked "Why are you interested in it?" I replied "I might be it depends on wether it would be for sale or not." I couldn't believe what this guy did next. He looked at me and gave me a dirty look and almost yelled at me. "The damn thing is not for sale! I don't want to sell it and I don't know why you'd even ask." He caught me off guard and I didn't expect him to come back with "If you'd like to have it I'll give you the damn thing to you! That way I won't have to take it to the dump!" Hmm I thought,,what the hell? " You can see it needs a little fixin can't you?" "Yes" I replied. "Are you willing to fix it?" I answered him back with a "yes" after studying the small amount of needed repairs. Wait here he said and he went into his garage and came back with the sails, the mast, the rudder and the drop down keel. "You'll have to make a boom for it and by the way thanks for coming by." "You're welcome", I said "and thank you for the boat!". When I got home I looked up the boat in the Internet. $3,349.00 US plus shipping is what it would have cost me if I had bought it new. Now two weeks later the repairs are almost done and my costs are less than $100.00. I know a fresh water lake not far from here and the breezes on that lake are just right..for a little sailboat this size. Come'on summer!!

BTW I'm accepting applications for a one woman crew! I'll bring the sails, you bring the lunch. Let's have a good time!

Hi Coney and thank you for being so kind. It's a small sailboat but it's on the water right?

Thank you terri. I can't wait for summer to return and those fresh water lakes await me with my canoe or this little sailboat. Too bad Texas is so far away I'd invite you to day at the lake, barbecue and all.

You be careful Grey storms come up on lakes really quickly... guess you can sday your ship came in huh??? lol... have fun!Sailing is a blast! you will love it. But it does require some strength.. so ya might want to hit the gym to make sure you are ready... then all ya need is a big lock to keep scryboy from taking over your new toy...you know how those kids are.. He will be waving to you while you stand on shore. LOL...sassy

Heck Darn Blast and other words to that effect. If I lives a few thousand miles closer, I'ld be teaching you how to salsa dance in that boat. What a great story.
