I'm paying $270 a month now and just received a letter from my insurance company stating that it’s going up to $349 starting this coming January. On top of that I’ve been paying $500 deductible annually. After the deductible is met I pay $17 per visit to the doc’s. I pay $100% for medications.
How much are you paying?

In Australia, low income, disabled, or old age pensioners get their health care free. Medicines are usually $3.70 per item. Doctor's visits, pathology, xray, plus much more, also free. Hospital stays are free as well, as are operations. I do feel very sorry for you. I guess I do live in the Lucky Country.

Hi Aloha, I don't pay medical insurance. Medical insurance is available but I prefer to pay cash when I need private health care. We also have public funded healthcare ( I think some call it socialized medicine) where we pay RM1.00 (0.30 USD)per visit as an outpatient. Medication, x-ray and lab tests are free. If we are warded then we have to pay ward charges as well as for x-rays and lab tests, the amount of which depends on whether we are in the first, second or third class ward. However, payment can be exempted for the poor. For pensioners, it is free. I understand that some may be against public funded healthcare but for me, this system means no Malaysian will ever be denied healthcare by a hospital. I have read that in other countries, patients have died while the ambulance goes around trying to get them to a hospital that will accept them. I really don't understand how any government can allow that to happen.

Hi Aloha: Are you in Hawaii? Our health care in Canada is paid for out of taxes so I don't pay any premiums or co-payments. So sorry you have to pay such a huge amount every month, then co-pays and prescriptions on top of that. I lived in the U.S. and was shocked at the horrible HMO system there, all the phone calls, co-payments, appeals.

Aloha!
I don't believe in giving my money to the government and not getting anything in return. So I just keep it to myself and pay hospital and medicine from my pocket. I used to pay for Medicare, but all that I put in vanished. pooffff!! The government has a way of siphoning your money wherever they can
I'm just looking at your figures here, and think "gosh, look at all that money I'm saving!!" nearly $1,000 a month
Stay well and take care of your health, you only have one
