I dont believe for a second red meat causes cancer. Mind you too much of anything is not good. Certain processed foods very possibly.

I remember as a kid some scientist announced eggs caused cancer. What a load of crap. Years later they are good for you. Dont believe everything they throw at you.

Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.

I have my thought about cancer, what causes it, why it grows. It has absolutely nothing to do with red meat.

A carcinogen is something that enters your body and can effect the body at the cellular level. Cells mutate all the time, carcinogen effect that mutation.

The reason for cancers are that those mutations can multiply under the right conditions. The primary condition is that the body recognizes those cell as part of the body. There is no immune system that recognizes the body own cells as being a detriment to the body.s
Current research is to try and get one's own immune system to recognize cancer cells.

Carcinogens can be cancer causing, but are not always necessary. The body alone can produced mutated cancer cells.

There are too many carcinogens to even mention, I think processed foods and made man food supplements are the greatest of these. Natural Red Meat is not one of them. Processes and treated animals could be, but not as high on the priority list as other processed food and supplements. Certainly not as high as some environmental carcinogens.

Cancer can not be resolved by removing all carcinogens. There are too many both recognizable and unrecognizable.

As chemo, kill cells, so the body recognizes dead cells and removes them. Current research to have the body recognize live cancer cells is the biggest breakthrough in Cancer research.

Cancer in older people is an obvious problem. there was time I believe that if everybody lived long enough they would get cancer.
When one thinks about it, it becomes obvious.
As we age, we are confronted with more cellular breakdown. That's what cause us to look older and feel older.
At the cellular level these breakdown afford more mutations to occur.
Cancer is in fact a breakdown at the cellular level. It happens more as we age and we become more susceptible.

What I would hope people would take from my spouting off.... is that cancer is a product of one's own cells. It's not foreign to the body.
Foreign substances assist the body to produce cancer cells, but become part and parcel to the body itself. That's why cancer is so deadly and dangerous. Cancer doesn't INVADE the body, it destroys it, from within.

To add to what JC said our bodies produce cancer cells all of the time. When our immune system is on top of things it attacks and eliminates them. As we age our immune systems weaken as do all of the physical processes and we can no longer fight off the cancer cells. Of course environmental factors enter into the picture, including what we eat, breathe and touch but they are by no means the entire picture.

With respect to food - recommendations and findings change all of the time. I take my grandmother's advice of everything in moderation. I've added my own to it "Pick your poison becasue everything is bad for you in some way."

I agree,

Some people who are exposed to carcinogens, do not get cancer.

One of two thing must happen.... either their cells do not accept cancer mutations, or their body somehow recognizes cancer cells and can dispose of them.
That's what happens. I'm lucky I got one of the two, I'm not immune just less likely. It doesn't run in my family on either side. Cancer is as much genetic as it is anything else. In some cases, it's all genetic.

I doubt that all body cells are made equal. that their function and programing are either more susceptible or less. I would guess this varies from person to person based on their genetics.

My point is that someone may be not susceptible to some forms of cancer but are more susceptible to others, depending on their genetics and carcinogen exposure. I also believe there is no get out jail free card.

I also believe that the body and genetics are the solution to the cancer.
The cause and solution are all wrapped in one.
