I like it. The small brass? figure looks to be cradling a small bird in its hand - could it be the lovely St Francis of Assissi, patron saint of animals and ecology? /COLOR]

* More specifically, St Francis blessing the bird cradled in his hand - not sure if icon small or brass

Inuit Tuurngait Where I come from, there was a belief that if you sit on the ground too early in the Spring, you will get "Bakke duns", which is a sort of madness, sort of like what is said to come over people during the full moon.........When I was in my 20's I was delighted to discover that the Inuit have the same belief.......I remember very clearly, as a child. sitting on the ground in the early Spring and then remembering the warnings and jumping up and, for several hours afterward, monitoring myself for signs of madness........

But then the red X blood marks could represent the (INQUISITION) and the warrior could represent the killers who enforced it for the church.

HAVE YOU VISITED ASSISI AND SEEN THE CHURCHES THERE WITH THE FRESCOES? AMAZING TOWN.

Interesting and fitting "I" photo. I love the bronze statue of St, Francis of Assissi.

There are certainly different icons. They are definitely interesting. The longer you look at them the more details you see. Great post Sparkle.

Interesting...... which is another I word. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

The bronze (thanks for clarifying) statue certainly has been on an interesting pilgrimage of sorts dating back to the last century. Where is the Baha Desert - couldn't find it anywhere - could you have meant Bayuda Desert in Sudan or Baja California Desert, Mexico? Yes, I wondered about the macho figure in the background - is he linked to the painting's trauma theme? Is the trauma about abuse on all levels perpetrated especially by men?

Just another thought - is the trauma painting about man's ruthless destruction of the environment - that the placement of St Francis in front of the painting is strategic/ties in with the trauma sustained (environment) theme (?).
