Many of you have heard me talk about the Walnut Valley Festival. It's a BLUEgrass festival in Kansas each September. For the past 3 years I've been the Arts & Crafts Crew Chief... which is fun, but very time consuming. Sadly, I don't get much of a chance to go to the campgrounds to listen to impromptu jam sessions any more.
The photo is of Stage 5... an unofficial stage in the campgrounds. It may be "unofficial" but it's become a real part of the official festival. The stage was built on the back of a truck as part of a campsite competition over 20 years ago. Today if you haven't signed up to perform the first day of the festival, you aren't going to get the opportunity to play unless another group invites you to play with them. This stage usually shuts down around 2 or 3 am.

This "new" kitten started out named Tuffy... because he hissed and growled at me like a big cat and promptly fell over. Later Bob renamed him Stinkerbell... I'll leave it to you to figure out why... lol...

Trying again!

This is one of my favorite photos of my grand... whose name begins with an "E." It was her 2nd birthday and she was overwhelmed with all the friends and relatives surrounding her. Most of those "friends and relatives" were strangers to her since she lives 500 miles from them and hadn't gotten to know them yet. I just love this photo because it's so emotionally (another "e" word... lol) honest.

Moving, that is...
I moved yet again yesterday... only a couple of miles away. Those "3 suitcases" someone suggested a few years back are sounding better and better! tee...hee...hee... We DID get it all in a small u-haul without too much trouble. I was already completely packed, so that part wasn't too bad.
It wasn't raining... which was a blessing... but it was in the 90's and humid as all get out... so miserably hot.
This time my name is on the dotted line and I am so not moving for at least a year. *note to self* Never talk about a no-hitter. God has a way of calling you out on those... lol... God does! God so does!
On to unpacking and settling in! And couch shopping... gave mine away when I moved to OK 2 years ago. Now THAT should be fun.

Bob and I share an interest in trains. At one time we were going to build an "O" scale model train "route." He was interested in putting the train sets together, doing the electronics and running the trains. I was interested in sculpting the landscape and buildings.
We went to model train shows and took photos of buildings around railroad yards that were of the period we were interested in.
This is the Enid, OK railroad station, near the railroad freight dock buildings that house a railroad museum and a number of model train set ups.

Where are you going?

Lewis Carol said, "If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there."
Hmmm... a lot of food for thought in those few words!
When I joined SFF, I knew it was time to make some changes in my life. I took a long, hard look at how I was living and how I wanted to live my life. I decided I was going somewhere. I just didn't know where I was going.
For a while, I thought I'd move to Colorado where both my children and my only grandchild live. I worked toward that end but I ran into roadblock after roadblock. A fella I had been seeing for two years convinced me to move to Oklahoma instead.
The relationship didn't pan out, but so many more things have. I'm blessed! The photo was taken at the Moore Ranch, east of Dewey, OK, on the road to Prairie Song shortly after my arrival here. It's hard to believe I moved to Oklahoma 2 years ago!
Are you going somewhere? OR... Are you where you want to be?

Remembering OKC...

Recently there was a ceremony commemorating the 15th anniversary of the bombing of the Murrah Building in Oklahoma City. What a sad event U.S. history!
The photo is one I took when I visited the site a few years ago. There is one "chair" for each person who died that day. The small ones represent the children who died.
A couple of months ago, I filled in at our sister store when they needed a manager to work a shift. The gal I worked with is a dental hygenist by day. She was in training at the time of the OKC bombing. The upper level students assisted in the identification of the victims of the bombing. She was one of those students.
It was heart-wrenching to hear her recall her experiences. The children were the hardest for her. I'm sure they would have been for me too.
