One of the nicest compliments that I ever received from a woman was that she felt that I was the most real (i.e. authentic) guy that she had ever met.
After I meet someone via the Internet, we exchange a few e-mail and decide that there's mutual interest, I like to have a telephone conversation.
If things go well there, then it's time for a meeting. I'm okay with meeting women at bars but I'm not a barfly. A café works too, especially on a weekend morning when I have time to relax and talk.
I have a variety of interests including the following:
1. Music (e.g. blues, rock, some jazz, some classical, zydeco).
2. Sports (e.g. tennis, swimming, perhaps golf).
3. The ocean (e.g. snorkeling, scuba, body surfing).
4. Creative, hands-on activities like writing, cooking, video or web site production.

1. With whom I can mesh intellectually, emotionally, etc. Chemistry is important.

4. That takes care of their health by exercising regularly, etc.
5. That likes animals (e.g. dogs, cats).
6. That is financially and emotionally stable (though everyone is allowed some minor neuroses  ).
7. That believes in, and practices, monogamy when in a committed relationship.
8. That is looking for a long-term relationship.
9. That is NOT high-maintenance.
10. That's NOT a confrontation junkie or Drama Queen. (I do believe in resolving issues, preferably in a calm and friendly manner.)
